Mobil station in Jarrell, TX

This gas station in Jarrell Texas is kind of an open-air museum. The gas pumps are about 50 years old – back in the day when regular was $.26 a gallon. This is an HDR rendering with nearly out of control saturation. Also ran it through a simplifier to give it a bit of abstraction.

The Bel Air Motel in South Austin

Monochrome background with some Gaussian blur. Masked the sign and brought up the contrast a bit with curves.

Garage Works & Tires in Bartlett Texas.

Brick streets, HDR toning and marvelous typography. Wanted lots of detail in the bricks which made the sky look like gravel. Ended up building the sky separately and then merging the two images together.

Round Rock Harley-Davidson

Sucker Punch Sallys was in town selling custom bikes and set up their display in the parking lot.

McNeil Texas

Union Pacific locomotives parked on the siding in McNeil Texas next to the Austin White Lime Company. Old industrial sites are target rich environments. All kinds of interesting shapes and textures. Toned black and white background and lots of saturation in the foreground.

Sucker Punch Sally's chopper in Round Rock Texas. Monochrome background and lots of masking to bring out the bike in color.

Fredericksburg Texas

Simplified this to remove clutter and then added in the darkened sky for a bit of drama.

Cotton gin in Granger Texas

Monochrome background to drive the sky to black and then pushed saturation in the red building to just this side of it breaking up into color noise.

Locomotives in McNeil Texas

The Union Pacific Railroad Parks these locomotives on the siding in McNeil Texas. Simplified the foreground a bit to remove visual clutter. Otherwise it's pretty much unmanipulated except for adjusting the saturation.

Monument Café

The old Monument Café in Georgetown Texas. Monochrome foreground and color background. Had lots of fun figuring out how to do the cones of light coming out of the hanging fixtures.

Prayer

Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona Arizona. Ran this through a simplifier and then hit it with HDR toning to give it some snap.

Gotta love the white walls on this street rod. Put some Gaussian blur on the background to isolate the car and eliminate visual clutter.
